BATESVILLE, Ark. – Sixty percent of the Lyon College women's basketball team roster was given special academic recognition on Wednesday night prior to the American Midwest Conference Women's Postseason Tournament quarterfinal game against Missouri Baptist University. Nine members of the Scots were named AMC Academic All-Conference, along with seven members of the MBU squad.

To qualify as a member of the elite squad, a student-athlete much carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and must have been a member of the program for the entire year.

There were 109 student-athletes among the 19 conference men and women's basketball programs that earned academic all-conference for the 2012-13 season.

Members of the Lyon College women's basketball team honored include: freshman Tiffany Angotti (Mammoth Springs, Ark.); junior Alex Davidson (Batesville, Ark.); freshman Taylor Grigg (Huntsville, Ark.); freshman Rachael Jones (New Johnsonville, Tenn.); senior Debbie Onukwube (Little Rock, Ark.); senior Christine Smith (Bentonville, Ark.); freshman Brianna Tharp (Pocahontas, Ark.); freshman Cayley Wagoner (Walnut Ridge, Ark.); and senior Suzanne Fincham (Royal, Ark.).

Seven members of the Spartans squad were also recognized before the game.

Members of the Lyon College men's basketball team who earned AMC Academic All-Conference will be recognized at Thursday's conference tournament quarterfinal contest at Missouri Baptist, which tips off at 7 p.m.
