Audrey Myers had big nights at the net, but the Lyon College Scots fell, 3-1, in their TranSouth Conference opener against Union University on Tuesday night.
Fincham had a season-high 18 kills and added three blocks, while Myers accounted for a balanced line of 10 kills, 12 digs and two aces.
Lyon falls to 1-2 overall and 0-1 in the TranSouth and has lost in back-to-back matches. Union picks up a win in what was its season and conference opener.
Danielle Reed led the team with 29 assists and
Jacquelyn Maddox earned a team-high 18 digs. Senior
Meghann LaBorn pitched in three blocks and three aces.
The Scots are idle until the College of the Ozarks Tournament, beginning for the Scots on Saturday at Point Lookout, Mo. Lyon takes on the host team in game one at 2 p.m. on Saturday, followed by Harris-Stowe at 4:30 p.m. The Scots have two more matches on Sunday against Southern Nazarene and John Brown, respectively.
