SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. - Lyon College played the John Brown University Golden Eagles to a scoreless tie for the first 60 minutes, but the Scots couldn't punch any shots past the JBU keeper as LC saw its unbeaten streak stopped at two Wednesday afternoon in a 2-0 setback at Alumni Field.
John Brown had the upper hand of 24-7 shooting, but only held an 11-5 edge in shots on goal. The Golden Eagles outshot the Scots 9-1 in the first half, but could not take the lead because LC goalkeeper
Stephanie Spiteri turned back five shots on goal.
In the second half, Spiteri and John Brown keeper Kristen Morency each had four saves, but the Golden Eagles were able to slip a pair of shots past the Lyon keeper and that was the difference.

Lyon College (1-2-1) won last year's contest between the two schools, 3-1, but the freshmen-heavy Scots couldn't find the net in the matchup in 2012. Freshmen Maria Monterroso and
Shelby Frazier each had a pair of shots for LC, while sophomore
Chandler Rae and freshmen
Monica Ayala and Maria Ruiz adding one apiece.
Whitney Brannan produced eight shots for John Brown, with Laura Garcia adding five and Casey O'Brien attempted four. O'Brien scored one of the goals for the Eagles, while Karen Sosa came off the JBU bench to score the other.
John Brown (2-2), which won its second straight after starting the year with a pair of losses, broke on top 1-0 at the 60:27 mark on a score by O'Brien. The Eagles added an insurance goal with 29:10 left when Sosa scored.
Lyon will be on the road again Saturday to play part of a women/men doubleheader with the LC men's team as they travel to Chickasha, Okla. to face University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma. The women will get underway at 10 a.m., with the men starting at 12-noon.
The next home action for the Scots will be on Saturday, Sept. 15, when they host Texas College at 12-noon at Huser Field on Parents' Weekend.
