McKenzie,TN. - 1/21/2012- The Lyon College Women's Basketball team falls to Bethel University in TranSouth Conference play this afternoon 69-72. The Scots are now 15-5 overall and 4-2 in conference play.

The Scots were lead this afternoon by Lauren Ramsey, Debbie Onukwube, and Phagen Altom. Ramsey had an outstanding performance this afternoon picking up a double-double scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds. Debbie Onukwube also added her share with 16 points for the Scots, while Phagen Altom dished in 11 points and 5 rebounds.

The Scots shot 43% from the field and 72% from the free throw line. Bethel was led this afternoon by starting forward Jana Roney producing for the Wild Cats with 28 points and 13 rebounds while going 10-17 from the field and 8-10 from the free throw line. Bethel shot 43% from the field and 79% from the free throw line.

Head coach Tracy Stewart-Lange commented after the loss stating "We really played well offensively but our defense didn't get big stops down the stretch. In a tight game like that on the road, you can't turn the ball over and give them extra possessions. They out executed us on a few possessions there at the end and that got us. After we built a 14 point lead we let up again and we have to fix that. I think this loss will get their attention and help us next game to sustain our focus for forty minutes and be more motivated to improve defensively".

The Scots are back in Transouth Conference action on their home court Thursday January 26th in Becknell Gymnasium at 6pm against Freed Hardeman University. Come out and support your Scots as they take on the Lions!
