Batesville,AR. - 1/19/2012- The Lyon College Women's Basketball team defeats Trevecca Nazarene University tonight at Becknell Gymnasium 67-58. The Scots came out strong against the Trojans taking an early 12 point lead 16-4 with 9:42 remaining in the first half. The Scots kept it strong all the way into halftime, taking a 9 point advantage 35-26 at the break. In the second half the Trojans battled back from a being down 20 points, and with 2:26 to go the Trojans narrowed the lead 59-53. But Trevecca could not keep up with the Scots, as they pulled ahead ending the game with a 9 point lead

67-58.

The Scots were lead tonight by Senior Phagen Altom. Altom led the Scots with 18 points and 6 rebounds going 3-3 from behind the arch. The Scots also had two other players in double digits against the Trojans. Senior Lauren Ramsey added a solid 16 points and 5 boards in the paint, while Junior guard Debbie Onukwube dished in 14 points and 9 boards.

The Scots shot 35% from the field and 77% from the free throw line. Trevecca was led tonight by Kayla Biles coming off the bench with 20 points. Trevecca shot 42% from the field and 65% from the free throw line.

The scots are now 15-4 overall and 4-1 in conference play.

The Scots continue TranSouth Conference play on Saturday January 21st in McKenzie, Tennessee. The Scots take on the Wild Cats of Bethel University at 2pm.
