Batesville, Ark. - 10/1/2011 - The Lyon College men's soccer team tied Cumberland University 1-1 Saturday afternoon. This places Lyon 5-4-1 on the season and 0-1-1 in the TranSouth Athletic Conference.
The first period of play was scoreless. Lyon's Bill Jeffries scored a goal assisted by Serhiy Zhykin in the second period. Robert Boyd had the only score for Cumberland, also in the second period. Regulation play ended with a tie of 1-1 and was unchanged in double overtime.
Lyon outshot Cumberland 23-9 in the match, including 11-2 on goal. Lyon's Thomas Guarino had 1 save and Cumberland's Matthew Shattack had 10 saves on the day
Up next the Scots will host Martin Methodist of Pulaski, Tennessee on Saturday, October 8th at 4:00 PM.
