BATESVILLE, Ark. – Park scored two late goals in the match Tuesday afternoon and the Lyon College women's soccer team slipped to the Pirates 2-0 at Huser Field. The game was scoreless through the first 80 minutes until the Pirates broke the tie with two goals in the final 10.
The Scots are now 4-7-1 overall and 4-4 in the American Midwest Conference, while Park improves to 8-3 overall and 6-1 in the AMC. Lyon sits in sixth place in the AMC, while Park sits in third place.
Lyon had shot opportunities throughout the match, but failed to capitalize. Edith Flores (JR/Elmhurst, Ill.) put a shot on goal four minutes into the period, which was saved by Park's goalkeeper Alyssa Gregory. Judith Flores (JR/Elmhurst, Ill.) would also add a shot midway through the second half that would sail high.
Park also had some shot opportunities miss in the match, until their two goal rally. The first goal for the Pirates came in the 82nd minute when Alexis Fry received a pass from Emma Chatterton, as Maddy Russell also got an assist. The Pirates would then add the insurance goal with seven seconds left to take the 2-0 win.
