BATESVILLE, Ark. – The Lyon College women's soccer team (4-6-1, 4-3 AMC) faces a tough matchup at Huser Field on Tuesday when they host Park at 1 p.m. The Scots are coming off a 5-1 loss to Missouri Baptist on the road on Saturday.
Park currently sits in third place in the American Midwest Conference, while Lyon is tied for fifth with Missouri Baptist.
Park: Park enters Tuesday with a 7-3 overall record and 5-1 mark in the conference. The Pirates have not played since Sept. 30 when they shutout Hannibal-LaGrange 12-0. The Pirates have a number of goal scorers in Isabel Suarez (13), Emma Chatterton (9), Gabi Severns (6) and Taylor Buckholz (5). Sullivan's 13 goals are ranked fifth in the AMC. Chatteton leads the Pirates with seven assists, whicvh is tied for third in the AMC and Sullivan is second with six. Alyssa Gregory leads the goalkeeping with 15 saves in seven games, while Amy Roskell and Mercedes Daniels each have six in four games.
Lyon: The Scots hope to rebound after Saturday's loss to the Spartans and are led by Joyce Barbosa (JR/Rio De Janeiro, Brazil)'s 11 goals, which is tied for seventh in the conference. Judith Flores (JR/Elmhurst, Ill.) and Jessica Souza (SR/Cabot, Ark.) are second on the team with four apiece. Barbosa also leads the team with five assists and Flores and Olivia Wolfram (JR/Springfield, Mo.) are tied for second with four each. Goalkeeper Claire Coley (FR/Southside, Ark.) leads the Scots with 42 saves in 10 games.
Lyon is 1-7 all-time against Park, last playing the Pirates on Sept. 17, 2016 when the Pirates won 9-1. The Scots are 1-1 at home against Park.
Lyon travels to William Woods on Saturday for a 1 p.m. kickoff in Fulton, Mo.
