BATESVILLE, Ark. – The Lyon College football team will return to Pioneer Stadium this Saturday to host Wayland Baptist University in a CSFL contest starting at 4 p.m. as part of 'Family Weekend' at Lyon College.
The Lyon College football team is looking for its first Central States Football League win of the season as the Scots return to home to Pioneer Stadium to host Wayland Baptist University. Lyon enters Saturday's contest sporting an overall record of 2-3 and an 0-2 mark in the CSFL. The Scots fell last week on the road, 42-21, at Oklahoma Panhandle State. Wayland Baptist is 1-3 on the year and 1-1 in the conference after defeating Texas College, 24-23, at home last week.
Lyon College senior tight end Jonathan Hendrix (SR/Batesville, Ark.) had a big game last weekend at Oklahoma Panhandle as he led the Scots receiving corps. Hendrix hauled in six passes for 126 yards and one touchdown. Hendrix's touchdown came on a 56-yard pass from Cody Jones (SR/Russellville, Ark.).
For the season, Hendrix has caught 19 passes for 349 yards and one touchdown. Hendrix's 349 receiving yards are first on the team and his 19 receptions are tied with Jacquez Parker (FR/Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) for the most on the team.
Wayland Baptist holds a 3-0 advantage in the all-time series against the Scots. The Pioneers picked up a 52-14 decision over the Scots last season in Plainview, Texas.
Mitchell Parsley will serve as the primary signal-caller for the Pioneers as he has completed 85-of-161 passes for 1,050 yards and four touchdowns this season. Parsley is a dual-threat quarterback as he also rushed for over 100 yards with one touchdown on 41 attempts. De'Sean Johnson leads the Pioneers' rushing attack with 169 yards on 42 attempts and two touchdowns. Michael Nealy is the player to look out for on the defensive side of the ball for Wayland Baptist. Nealy has been named as the Defensive Player of the Week in the CSFL the past two weeks and is coming off of a 20-tackle performance this past weekend against Texas College.
