COVINGTON, Tenn. – The Lyon College men's golf team moved up in the standings and finished in eighth place at the Freed-Hardeman Invite at the Covington Country Club on Tuesday. The Scots shot a 620 as a team during the two-day event. Joshua Lunceford (SR/Mountain Home, Ark.) ended in a tie for 14th place and was the low scorer during the invite for the Scots.
August Reynolds (SO/Harrison, Ark.), Mitchell Cannon (JR/San Marcos, Calif.) and Lunceford all shot a 76 during the second round at the FHU Invite. Reynolds finished the event tied for 26th, while Cannon tied for 39th. Tomas Mariscotti (JR/Rogers, Ark.) shot the lowest round for the Scots in the two-day invite with a 73 on Tuesday to finish tied for 32nd overall. Royce LoBianco (JR/Maumelle, Ark.) scored an 80 during the second day of competition to finish tied for 55th.
Freed-Hardeman finished the invite in first place after shooting 580 as a team. Central Baptist (600) finished in second, while Lindenwood-Belleville (604), Faulkner University (608) and Blue Mountain College (609) rounded out the top five. Missouri Baptist (612) and Williams Baptist (619) finished just ahead of the Scots in sixth and seventh, respectively.
Hailey Elmore (SO/Jacksonville, Ark.) finished the event tied for 15th after shooting a 93 during the second day of the invite for the women's team.
The Lyon College golf teams will return to action on Oct. 9-10 at the William Woods Fall Invitiational.
