BATESVILLE, Ark – The Lyon College women's soccer team pitched a shutout at home on Tuesday afternoon, winning 2-0 against Central Baptist at Huser Field. The Scots scored two first half goals to solidify the victory, and move to 3-2 in conference play.
The Scots are now also 3-5-1 overall, while Central Baptist falls to 0-10 overall and 0-4 in the American Midwest Conference. Lyon is now in fifth place in the AMC, while CBC is in 13th place.
Central Baptist did not garner much offense in the match, as Lyon was able to capitalize on a lead early on. Joyce Barbosa (JR/Rio De Janeiro, Brazil) gave the Scots a 1-0 lead in the 19th minute as she shot the ball from six yards out, after the ball was deflected inside the penalty box.
The Scots would add a second goal in the 39th minute from Kayla Holloway (SR/Porterville, Calif.) after Darby Blaylock (JR/Fairview, Texas) sent the ball into the box off a corner kick, where Holloway was able to retrieve it and sent it into the upper left 90 of the goal.
Both teams then went scoreless in the second half, as the Scots held on for the 2-0 win.
- Barbosa scored her team leading sixth goal of the season.
- Lyon goalkeeper Claire Coley (FR/Southside, Ark.) made three saves in the match.
- Blaylock added her third assist of the season, which is second on the team.
- Lyon added 15 shots on goal on 24 total shots, while CBC had three total shots in the match.

Lyon hosts St. Louis College of Pharmacy on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m.
