WACO, Texas – As the 2017 football season approaches, the Central States Football League released their preseason poll on Thursday. The Scots were selected to finish sixth in the league as selected by the conference's head coaches and sports information directors.
The Scots finished 3-8 last season and will look to improve that record with Kyle Phelps back at the helm for a second season.
Lyon football reports to campus this weekend to open fall camp. The Scots are set to open the regular season at home on Saturday, August 26, at 6 p.m. against Missouri Baptist. General admission season tickets and reserved parking spots are still available for this upcoming season.

Arizona Christian was picked to finish first with 15 of the 18 first-place votes. Langston University received the other three first-place votes and was selected second in the preseason poll. Wayland Baptist University (Texas) was third, followed by Oklahoma Panhandle State University, Southwestern Assemblies of God University, Lyon College, Bacone College, Texas Wesleyan University and Texas College.
