KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) today announced the 2016-17 NABC Honors Court, recognizing those men's collegiate basketball student-athletes who excelled in academics during the past season. Former Lyon College guard Joe Burt was recognized on the 2016-17 Honors Court.
To be on the Honors Court, a player must be a junior or senior and a varsity player. They must also carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.2 or higher at the end of the 2016-17 academic year and have matriculated at least one year at their current institution.
A native of St. Cloud, Minn., Burt appeared in 31 games while making 26 starts for the Scots last season. He finished the year averaging 8.4 points per game and 4.8 rebounds per game. Burt earned a bachelor's degree in business from Lyon this past May with a cumulative GPA of 4.00.
The Lyon College men's basketball team also earned the NABC Team Academic Excellence Award last week.
