BATESVILLE, Ark. – Three Lyon College baseball players were named to the 2017 All-Arkansas Collegiate Team Monday. Scots pitcher Tyler Tognarine (JR/Cape Coral, Fla.) was named the Natural State's Pitcher of the Year, while Kyle West (SO/Lewisville, Texas) and Will Lindsey (SR/Batesville, Ark.) were named honorable mentions.
Tognarine led the pitching staff in several categories throughout the 2017 season. Overall, he finished with an 11-5 record and 1.99 earned run average. He also threw 11 complete games and four saves. He also threw 113.2 innings pitched and struck out 92 batters on the season. He also ranked seventh in the nation allowing a .194 opponent batting average.
This is the third straight year Tognarine has been named to the All-Arkansas Collegiate Team.
West finished third on the team with a .299 batting average, while tying with Lindsey for the team lead of 20 doubles. He also scored a team high 51 runs and had 40 RBI on the season, and accumulated a team high 72 hits. West also had six stolen bases this season.
Lindsey led Lyon with seven home runs on the season, while batting .310. He also scored 37 runs and finished second on the Scots with 41 RBI, while adding three stolen bases.
Central Baptist's Jalin Lawson was also named to the All-Arkansas Team as a second baseman. Williams Baptist's Nick Scott and Cam Smith garnered honorable mention honors.
The Mustangs' Seth McLemore, along with William Baptist College's Eric Kent and Ryan Shelton were honorable mentions in the state.
Southern Arkansas's Trevor Rucker was named the Natural State Player of the Year, while Arkansas Baptist's Nick Kreutzer was named the Freshman of the Year. Southern Arkansas's Justin Pettigrew was named the Coach of the Year.
