BATESVILLE, Ark. – Lyon College golf coach Adam Buie announced the signing of Olivia Faught on Thursday. Faught will come to Lyon after attending Alma High School in Alma, Ark.
Faught has earned many accolades in high school including being named the Junior PGA South Central Player of the Year in 2014, 2015 and 2016. She was also the JRPGA South Central State champion in 2015, and placed second at the 2016 Arkansas 5A West Conference Tournament. Faught also earned Arkansas All-Conference honors four straight years and earned Arkansas All-State honors in 2015 and 2016.
Lyon head golf coach Adam Buie said Olivia will play a tremendous part in helping the team next season.
"I knew early on that she would be a good fit for what we are trying to do here at Lyon," Buie said. "She comes from a good family and knows her strengths and weaknesses. I am confident when she gets to the college level she will become a very strong player."
Outside of playing golf, Faught spent time as a student trainer for the basketball and football teams at Alma High School. She was also nominated for the Arkansas Governor's school.
Buie said Faught will be another piece in building up the women's golf team.
"She will immediately bolster the team and contribute," Buie said. "This is a great start for us as we try to rebuild the program. Hopefully we can get more players like Olivia to join and get us back to that elite level to compete with the top teams in the AMC and NAIA."
