HANNIBAL, Mo. – The Lyon College baseball team got off to a fast start Friday afternoon, by scoring nine of their 15 runs in the first three innings against Hannibal-LaGrange. The Scots would eventually win 15-5 over the Trojans at Nichols Field for their seventh American Midwest Conference win of the season.
Six Scots in Kyle West (SO/Lewisville, Texas), Easton Moore (JR/Fort Worth, Texas), Tucker Harris (JR/Paragould, Ark.), Logan Reddick (JR/Paragould, Ark.), Keegan Floyd (SR/Bartlett, Tenn.) (pictured below left) (SR/Bartlett, Tenn.) and Andrew Sauceda (JR/Las Cruces, N.M.) collected three hits in the game. Floyd also totaled four RBI's, while Harris added three.
Ryan Cortez (SR/Redwood City, Calif.) (pictured below right) (SR/Redwood City, Calif.) gave up five runs over four innings, but Reese Chovanec (FR/Magnolia, Texas) came in for relief and picked up the win. Jacob Huffman (SR/Denton, Texas) also pitched two scoreless innings.
Lyon is now 17-9 overall and 7-2 in the AMC, while Hannibal-LaGrange falls to 2-20 overall and 0-12 in the conference.

Seth Brown – 1-for-4, 1 2B, 1 R, 2 RBI
Lyon came out on fire against the Trojans as they scored four runs in the first and third innings, while tacking on another in the second. West led off the game with a triple, and would later score on a Trojans' error. HLG would tally three errors in the game. Floyd later hit a three-RBI double in the first inning to complete the four-run inning. The four-run frame in the third inning, was started when Dalton Ernest (FR/Pittsburg, Texas) scored on a double play ball. Sauceda later scored on a RBI-single by Moore.
Moore and Will Lindsey (SR/Batesville, Ark.) would cap off the inning scoring on a triple by Harris, as the Scots led 9-0 after two and a half innings. HLG's offense would come alive in the bottom of the third as they scored five runs, but they would go scoreless throughout the rest of the game.
The Scots added a pair of runs in the fourth, fifth and eighth innings to preserve the lead and take game one of the three-game series.
WHATS AHEAD FOR THE SCOTS
Lyon and Hannibal-LaGrange will play a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 12 p.m. The Scots then return to Scots Field where they will host Ouachita Baptist University (Ark.) on Tuesday at 2 p.m.
