ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Four Lyon College women's basketball players earned All-AMC honors Monday night at the American Midwest Conference Tournament championship. Kiara Moore (SR/Little Rock, Ark.) was named to the All-AMC First Team, and the AMC Newcomer of the Year. Madison Riley (FR/Judsonia, Ark.) earned All-AMC Second Team honors, while Liz Henderson (FR/Newark, Ark.) and Ali Tucker (SO/Jonesboro, Ark.) were named All-Conference honorable mentions.
Moore, a transfer from Oklahoma Baptist University has been the leading scorer this season for Lyon with 13.6 points per game. She is also shooting 42.1 percent from the field, and 34.4 percent from beyond the arc. The Little Rock, Ark., native has also posted double-figures in 20 of the team's 32 contests this year.
Riley is tied for third on the team with Henderson with 9.0 points per game, and has also totaled 134 rebounds, for 4.2 per game. She is also tied for second on the team with 15 blocked shots and is shooting 38.9 percent from the floor. Riley scored a season high 23 points in a 75-46 win over Williams Baptist on Dec. 31, 2016.
Henderson who is also averaging 9.0 points per game, leads the Scots with 87 assists for a 2.7 average. She is also ranked 23rd in the NAIA with a 39.2 three-point field goal percentage, and is shooting 41.6 percent this year. Henderson has also posted a career high 17 points twice this season.
Tucker has been arguably the Scots' best three-point shooter the entire year. She is averaging 8.0 points per game, and has posted a 45.6 three-point field goal percentage, which is good for third in the NAIA. Tucker has shown her sharpshooting abilities in two different games this year, where she hit eight three-point field goals against Central Baptist on Feb. 9, and seven against then No. 3 ranked Our Lady of the Lake University (Texas) on Nov. 12, 2016.
Elliot Taylor (SR/Cabot, Ark.) was named the Scots' Conference Champions of Character recipient. So far this season, Taylor is averaging 7.9 points and a team leading 5.1 rebounds per game. She also has a team high 21 blocked shots.
Freed-Hardeman's Taleeah Cross garnered AMC Player of the Year honors, while Lions' head coach Dale Neal was named Conference Coach of the Year. FHU's Kim Mallory was named AMC Defensive Player of the Year, while Lindenwood-Belleville's Brianna Mueller was named conference Freshman of the Year.
All-Academic AMC honors for Lyon included Sarah Elkins (SO/Greenwood, Ark.), Samantha French (SO/Marshfield, Mo.), Kaci Hall (SR/Cumberland, Tenn.), Henderson, Tressa Linson (SO/Blue Eye, Mo.), Gracen Ratliff (FR/Batesville, Ark.), Riley, Kelsey Smith (SR/Little Rock, Ark.), Allison Tackett (JR/Bauxite, Ark.), Taylor and Tucker.
