BATESVILLE, Ark. – The 10th-ranked Lyon College women's basketball team had to claw past Harris-Stowe State late Saturday afternoon inside James C. Becknell Gymnasium. The Scots led 50-47 with 1:44 left, before going on an 11-7 run the rest of the way to defeat the Hornets 61-54 on 'Senior Day.' With the win, the Scots sweep Harris-Stowe in the regular season after defeating them 57-47 on Feb. 6 in St. Louis, Mo.
Kiara Moore (SR/Little Rock, Ark.) led Lyon with 14 points, while Liz Henderson (FR/Newark, Ark.) (pictured below left) and Madison Riley (FR/Judsonia, Ark.) scored 10 each. Elliot Taylor (SR/Cabot, Ark.) and Sarah Elkins (SO/Greenwood, Ark.) each had nine points.
Harris-Stowe was led by Brionna Taylor's 16 points, while Angela Randall scored 15.
After the game, Lyon College women's basketball seniors Moore, Taylor, Kelsey Smith (SR/Little Rock, Ark.), Kaci Hall (SR/Cumberland, Tenn.) and Hailey Hastings (SR/Batesville Ark.) were honored for their contributions to the Scots women's basketball program.
Lyon closes out the regular season with a 25-4 overall record and 21-3 mark in the AMC. Harris-Stowe falls to 19-11 overall and 15-9 in the conference. The Scots will enter the AMC Tournament as the No. 2 overall seed. In other AMC action, No. 1 Freed-Hardeman stayed undefeated at 30-0 with a 90-50 win over Missouri Baptist. No. 12 Columbia held on for a slim 66-64 win over William Woods, and No. 23 Lindenwood-Belleville pulled away with a 94-56 win over Central Baptist.

6 – Lyon scored six straight points down the stretch to pull away from Harris-Stowe, taking a 56-47 lead with 27 seconds left. Moore and Riley combined for the total, before Liz Henderson, Hastings and Samantha French (SO/Marshfield, Mo.) scored the final five points of the game for Lyon.
42 – Lyon totaled 42 rebounds on the afternoon, led by nine from Elkins, who finished one point and one rebound shy of a double-double. Henderson followed with eight boards, while Riley had five.
36.4 – Lyon shot 36.4 percent in the game on 22-of-55 shooting. The Scots shot just 31.0 percent in the first half, but bounced back in the second going 11-for-26 for 42.3. Harris-Stowe finished the game shooting 36.7 percent from the floor on 22-of-60 from the field.
1 – Lyon held the Hornets to just one made three-point field goal on the day, as HSSU went 1-for-13. Lyon shot 37.5 percent from beyond the arc on 6-of-16. Henderson made three 3-point field goals, while Moore hit two and Riley had one.
Lyon and Harris-Stowe battled early in the first quarter as the Scots grabbed a 16-11 lead with 2:14 to go in the period. The Hornets would score four straight points to trail Lyon 16-15 after one quarter. Both teams would struggle in the second quarter, as the Hornets outscored the Scots 10-7 in the period. HSSU extended its run to start the second going up 17-16, but Taylor scored a basket to give the lead back to the Scots. The Hornets would score eight of the next 13 points to take a 25-23 halftime lead.
The third quarter was another balanced effort by both teams. With 3:50 left in the third and Harris-Stowe leading 31-30, Henderson and Smith each made baskets to give Lyon a 35-31 lead. Harris-Stowe would score five straight points and take a 36-35 lead into the final period.
Lyon's defense stepped up in the fourth quarter as they held HSSU to just 6-of-20 from the field. The Scots regained the momentum as they would go 6-of-9 from the floor and 14-of-17 from the free throw line. The Scots picked the lead back up early in the quarter before keeping pace with the Hornets and leading 50-47 with just 1:44 left. Lyon would put the game away late as they led 57-51 with 10 seconds left before Hastings and French each made two free throws.
