WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. – The Lyon College men's wrestling team had its hands full Thursday night, taking on the No. 3-ranked Eagles of Williams Baptist College in an American Midwest Conference regular season road dual. The Eagles put five nationally ranked wrestlers on the card, picking up four wins, as WBC recorded a 46-7 victory in the Southerland-Mabee Center.
Lyon didn't go down without a fight. The Scots' Connor Webber (JR/Houston, Texas) (pictured at right) pulled off the biggest upset of the night, when he defeated 10th-ranked Ryan Whittle in the 165-lb. weight class. Webber posted a 14-4 decision.
Lyon's Troy Mercer (SR/Rockwall, Texas), who is ranked 15th nationally in the 197-lb. weight class, posted Lyon's other victory on the night, a 15-10 decision over Braden Zini.
In the 133-lb. class, the Eagles' Jaitlan Pitts defeated Lyon's Christopher Marson (SO/Denham Spring, La.) with a 22-6 technical fall. No. 1-ranked Tyler Fraley of WBC picked up a 20-4 technical fall win over the Scots' Tevon Sandoz.
In the 157-lb. class, the Eagles' seventh-ranked Zach Revier posted a fall win over Alberto Ordonez in 31 seconds. Williams Baptist's Jeffrey Haley, who is ranked fifth in the 184-lb. class, wrestling down a class and topped Lyon's George Scott (FR/Little Rock, Ark.) in a fall in 2:01 in the 174-lb. class.
In the heavyweight class, the Eagles' Roger Moe pinned Lyon's Cordell Spohrer (SO/Slidell, La.) in 1:27.
Williams Baptist picked up forfeit wins in the 125-lb. class (Pierre Dowling), the 149-lb. class (11th-ranked Patrick Grigsby) and in the 184-lb. class (Tyler Dilbert).

The Lyon men's wrestling team will travel to Hannibal, Mo. next Tuesday for its final AMC regular season dual, when the Scots take on the Trojans in a 3 p.m. start.
