ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The American Midwest Conference (AMC) has announced its Wrestler of the Week award for the week ending December 4. For the first time this season, the honor goes to a member of the Lyon College Scots, as Connor Webber has been named the AMC's Wrestler of the Week.
Webber, a 165-pound junior from Houston, Texas, posted a perfect 3-0 weekend at the Wayland Baptist Invitational. He opened the tournament with a 12-6 decision over Richland's Dustin Basham, and in the semifinal, he recorded a win by fall at 2:14 over Richland's Hugo Martinez. In the class championship match, Webber won by a 3-1 decision over Joseph McAleavy of Bacone College, who was ranked 16th in the weight class in the NAIA Individual Rankings.
The Scots are 3-5 on the 2016-17 season and will entertain AMC opponent Central Baptist College Monday at 6 p.m. in the final home dual of 2016 portion of their schedule. The competition will take place in James C. Becknell Gymnasium. Lyon will then travel to Walnut Ridge, Arkansas, on December 16 for a dual against Missouri Valley College, before battling in the Oklahoma City University Duals on December 19.

ESTEBAN RUA – MISSOURI BAPTIST
Rua helped the Spartans win both of their dual matches on the week. He opened the week with a 7-2 decision over Justin Dauphin of Hannibal-LaGrange University, as the Spartans beat the Trojans 34-12 in AMC action. He followed that up with a win by fall over Trevor Kleckner of MacMurray College as the Spartans beat the Highlanders 33-21.
